Citation Abstract: This study explores text linguistics and its role in analyzing literary discourse, focusing on the concept of intentionality (sujetivity/purposefulness) introduced by Robert de Beaugrande. It highlights that text linguistics moves beyond sentence analysis to consider the text as an integrated linguistic unit characterized by cohesion, coherence, and structure. The research examines the distinctions between authorial, textual, and reader intentionality, and their role in literary interpretation. It also discusses the relationship between intentionality and hermeneutics, showing how this connection facilitates understanding the text’s purposes and defining the limits of interpretation.

Citation Keywords: Text linguistics, literary discourse analysis, intentionality, authorial intent, textual intent, reader intent, hermeneutics, interpretation.
