Peer Review Guidelines & Editorial Responsibilities
The International Jordanian Journal Aryam for Humanities and Social Sciences (IJJA) is committed to maintaining rigorous peer review to ensure the quality, originality, and academic integrity of all published research. These guidelines outline the duties of reviewers, the editorial board, and ethical standards.
Purpose of Peer Review
Peer review is a fundamental component of scholarly communication. It assists editors in making informed decisions, ensures manuscript quality and originality, and helps authors improve their work through constructive feedback.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Contribution to Editorial Decisions: Provide objective evaluations to assist editors in decisions regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection.
- Promptness: Notify the editor immediately if unable to review the manuscript in a timely manner or if unqualified.
- Confidentiality: Treat all manuscripts and data as confidential; do not share or discuss content without permission.
- Objectivity and Professionalism: Conduct reviews impartially; personal criticism of authors is prohibited.
- Acknowledgment of Sources: Identify relevant previously published work not cited by the authors; report overlaps or similarities with other publications.
- Disclosure and Conflict of Interest: Disclose conflicts of interest with authors or institutions; do not use unpublished data in your own research without written consent.
Responsibilities of the Editor-in-Chief & Editorial Board
- Conflict of Interest Declaration: Editors must disclose any personal or professional conflicts when handling manuscripts.
- Manuscript Evaluation: Verify the suitability of manuscripts based solely on academic and scientific merits.
- Reviewer Selection: Invite qualified and unbiased experts to conduct reviews in the manuscript’s subject area.
- Confidentiality: Ensure manuscript data remains confidential and shared only with appropriate reviewers and staff.
- Final Decision: Make final decisions on acceptance or rejection based on reviewers’ feedback and communicate them clearly to authors.
- Ethical Oversight: Handle reports of misconduct following COPE guidelines and maintain the integrity of the publication process.
Editorial Board Composition
The journal lists all editorial board members, including the Editor-in-Chief, associate editors, and board members, with their affiliations, emails, and links to Scopus, ResearchGate, and Google Scholar profiles to ensure transparency.
Best Practices
- Ensure the page is easily accessible from the journal homepage.
- Include the date of the last update to show policies are current.
- Provide links to related policies, such as Publication Ethics, Data Sharing, and Copyright & Licensing.
Maintaining clear peer review and editorial policies is essential for transparency, ethical integrity, and meeting Scopus indexing standards.
