Citation Abstract: Since the end of September 2025, voices have been rising in Morocco calling for improvements in healthcare and education services, denouncing injustice and corruption among officials and institutions, and advocating for the promotion of employment opportunities. These social demands are being carried by a collective that has called itself Generation Z 212. This movement has significantly shaken the political, academic, and social landscape in Morocco. Since its emergence, numerous debates, roundtable discussions, and interviews have been organized. They bring together political officials, political scientists, and sociologists and, exceptionally this time, give young people a voice to speak about their aspirations, dreams, and attitudes toward the management of key sectors of social and political life. Views differ regarding the explanation for the emergence of this movement. Some see it as a natural continuation of the protests led by Generation Z in different parts of the world. Others consider it a spontaneous reaction against corruption and the country’s deterioration at various levels. Some even believe in the existence of an “invisible hand” seeking to destabilize Morocco by instrumental zing young people and pushing them in this perilous direction. Some voices have also identified perceptible links between this collective and the February 20 Movement of 2011. For these observers, the seismic aftershocks of the “Spring of the Peoples” are affecting Morocco in recent days, given the similarities between the political and social contexts of the two periods. In reconsidering these different perspectives, this article seeks to reinterpret the phenomenon by placing it within a communication perspective. Indeed, political communication, as theorized by Dominique Wolton, may shed new light on the subject under analysis. To achieve this objective, it is appropriate to begin it a theoretical framework of Generation Z in order to identify its general characteristics. In doing so, particular emphasis will be placed on the communication-related challenges underlying the emergence of this movement in Morocco. The article will conclude with several recommendations of a communicative nature that may help address the deficiencies in communication observed within the political and social spheres.
