Citation Abstract: This study examined the impact of distance education during the COVID-19 pandemic on the reading and writing skills of first- and second-grade students from teachers’ perspectives. A descriptive survey method was employed using a questionnaire administered to a sample of primary school teachers in Buraidah. The findings revealed noticeable weaknesses in specific literacy skills, particularly in writing tanween letters, distinguishing between sun and moon “L,” and differentiating between tied and open taa and haa. The study concluded that distance education negatively affected students’ reading and writing skills, with writing being the most impacted. It recommended implementing remedial programs upon students’ return to in-person schooling.
