Citation Abstract: This study focuses on the principle of criminal legality and its role in protecting individual freedoms throughout all stages of the criminal process, including criminalization, punishment, and execution. It emphasizes that the legality of execution aims to balance the rights of the convicted with those of society, based on substantive foundations rooted in human rights and formal and practical foundations derived from constitutions and national and international legislation. The study also highlights that the primary goal of deprivation-of-liberty penalties is rehabilitation and reintegration, with judicial oversight ensuring the protection of prisoners' rights.
