Citation Abstract: This research deals with the political and military conflict that took place between the Garamant tribes in the Libyan Desert with the Romans, after the Romans took control of Carthage and transformed it into a Roman state under the name of the State of Africa. The Garamant tribes were allies and supporters of Carthage, as the Garamant participated in its wars, and they were also a source of mainly to bring Central African goods to its markets. This research deals with the relations that linked the Garamantes with the Romans, and the political approach that they adopted to resist the Roman presence, prevent its arrival to their homelands, and attempt to impose its influence on them, leading to the military clash between the two parties. We determine, after paving the way, its causes and stages, and the military campaigns that the Romans sent in order to subject the Garamantes to their authority.
