Abstract
The researcher aims in this paper to examine the role of a European explorer in studying the Algerian Sahara and to identify the specific characteristics of Algerian society. Henri Duverger travelled extensively across Algeria, moving from the south to the north, east, and west. He engaged with local inhabitants, participated in their councils, and observed their customs and traditions, collecting cultural heritage, documenting private life, and monitoring the natural environment, including mountains, sands, plants, rituals, and religious practices. This study highlights the significant contribution of this European explorer in recording the cultural richness and geographical diversity of the Algerian desert.
