Abstract

The Levant experienced numerous economic crises that profoundly impacted all aspects of social life. Historical records describe the suffering endured by various segments of society, highlighting the destruction and hardships caused by these crises. These adverse effects resulted from natural factors, including droughts, floods, and epidemics, as well as human-induced economic pressures such as political instability, wars, and conflicts. The poor were particularly affected, facing hunger, displacement, and death. This study aims to shed light on the outcomes of these crises and illustrate their profound influence on the daily lives of people in the Levant, drawing on historical sources to examine the causes and effects of these economic disruptions.
