Abstract: The study aimed to investigate the effect of using the cooperative learning strategy on the achievement and development of reading and writing skills among third-grade students in Arabic language in the Basira district education schools. The semi-experimental approach was used to conduct the study and it was applied to two divisions of the Nusaiba Al-Maziniya Mixed Basic School of the Directorate of Education in the Basira District. The study sample, which was chosen by the intentional method, consisted of (43) male and female students. I studied using cooperative learning, and a control group: I studied in the usual way, and the number of students of the control group was (21) students and the number of students of the experimental group (22) students, and a note card was applied to measure the skills of reading and writing in the Arabic language, after verifying the validity of the tool The study concluded that there are statistically significant differences between the performance averages of the two study groups on the observation card in favor of the experimental group that was taught using cooperative learning.The study recommends the need to urge Arabic language teachers to adopt the method of using cooperative learning, and to solve Problems in teaching Arabic for the third grade, because it is one of the effective methods for developing reading and writing skills, raising students’ morale and increasing their self-confidence, along with other teaching methods.
