The effect of a counseling program using educational games in developing self-esteem and developing problem-solving skills among third-grade students in the Directorate of Education and Teaching of Major General Busira

Abstract: This study aimed to investigate the effect of a counseling program using educational games on developing selfesteem and problem-solving skills among third-grade students in Busier District Directorate of Education. The study sample consisted of (24) third-grade students in Maryam Al-Batool basic Mixed School in Busira District, Tafila Governorate. The study sample was divided into two equal groups: an experimental group consisting of (12) students, whose members underwent two – month counseling program with two (60) minute sessions per week and a control group consisting of (12) students who were not exposed to any counseling program. To achieve the objectives of the study, a counseling program based on educational games was constructed, a scale for problem-solving skill was prepared, and a tool was used to measure self-esteem, and they were applied as pre, post, and follow-up scales. To answer the study questions, one-way analysis of variance was used, and the results indicated that there was a statistically significant difference at the level (α≤0.05) in the level of self-esteem and problem-solving skill between the two groups in Favor of the experimental group. The result showed that the counselling program was effective in developing self-esteem and developing problem-solving skills.
