A reading of the results Program for International Student Assessment (PISA 2015)

Abstract: The study aimed to identify the PISA test, its objectives and the fields it evaluates, also the results of the Algerian participation and its comparison with the results of the organization in the three fields – scientific culture, mathematic culture and understanding the written text – It also aimed to identify the results of the student’s’ well-being as well as the results of the educational policies and practices. the study was conducted on a sample of students who reach the age of (15 years) estimated at (5519) students studying in (166) middle and secondary school and three (03) vocational training centres. The tools consisted of test notebooks, questionnaires and explanatory guides. The study found that (61.10%) of the students were classified in the category (underperformance). in the scientific culture (42.80%) of student classified below the required level compared to (15.70%) for the organization (OCDE); And (22.70%) achieved the required level compared to (24.08%) for the (OCDE) organization. As for the students’ well-being, results showed that (87.40%) of them feel that they belong to their school compared to (73.00%) for the organization (OCDE). And that (61.10%) of the pupils receive support and assistance from their teachers, compared to (39.30%) for the organization (OCDE). It also found that, with regard to educational policies (68.50%) of students had previously repeated the year compared to (11.30%) for the organization (OCDE).
